About
The Docside Clinic: Connecting Docs to Docks holistically addresses waterfront workers’ lack of access to primary care, behavioral health care, and safety net social services. Through partnerships with health centers, food banks, legal clinics, seafarers’ centers, and other supporters, we continue to expand our services to provide fishermen and other dockworkers with 1) primary health care, including routine health checks, vaccinations, and prescription medicine; 2) behavioral health care, including psychological and substance misuse services; and 3) safety net social services, including immigration services, clothing, food, and hygienic items. We have had over 1000 patient encounters since 2021 and shown successful continuity of care, including patient follow-up, medication refills, and laboratory services; coordination of existing services under one umbrella; and an increase in patient’s medical adherence. Currently, we operate out of Galveston, TX and Port Arthur, TX, with plans to expand into Oak Island, TX and Abbeville, LA.
