The Rankin Labor Day Award was started in 2026 to honor the many people who have dedicated their time, money, & expertise to provide worker’s protection from the harms of precarious employment. 

The Award is named in honor of William E. Rankin, PLLC, an environmental & compliance attorney by day. As our Inaugural Labor Day Awardee, he has dedicated many hours ensuring fishermen can access legal documents. In turn, those documents create paths to housing, food assistance, and jobs, allowing fishermen to be more secure and stable.
