The Hotel of 10,000 Stars is a short documentary film that highlights the people who put food on our Gulf Coast tables, based off and named after an ongoing photo-ethnographic research project led by Dr. Shannon Guillot-Wright. The film documents the voices and experiences of Vietnamese shrimp fishermen and creates an avenue for people to not only hear about how food is caught, produced, sold, and served for their enjoyment, but also learn about the historical significance of their food and tangible solutions to ensure the Gulf Coast shrimping industry is sustainable. Ultimately, this is a story about the people who are tasked with doing the difficult and dangerous work of feeding America. It serves as a window into the supply chain and a complex web of systems that make up this industry, allowing viewers to peek into the lives of the people whose livelihoods and health are forever intertwined with it.
